Day 15, 01 Year Trumpland: Rewriting History

I meant to write this last night, but didn't get home till about 9:00 last night from work. Clients in crisis require time and attention. So does a country. We can't afford to look away. We have  conflicting reports of the disaster in Yemen. The Trump administration is falsely characterizing what happened when two American citizens died.

Last night Rachel Maddow had this to say:

We have been engaged in counter terrorism in Yemen for years, but not in a combat role. In case you missed it, Lil' Donald was at dinner when he ordered this raid. I keep picturing the scene of Denethor eating dinner while Pippin sang, meanwhile his cavalry unit led by his remaining son rode to a hopeless mission.

Anyway, Lil' Donald couldn't wait to claim a victory in fighting terrorism. He was briefed by his National Security Adviser one day, "the next day at dinner with his senior strategist Steve Bannon, and with his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and with Secretary of Defense, and some other principal level personnel, he made the decision around the dinner table that it would happen, and it was launched immediately."

This lack of preparation, the lack of advise form the National Security Adviser and others resulted in disaster:
The first military operation ordered by President Trump may have resulted in as many as 30 civilian deaths and the killing of an American operative, according to several reports questioning the intelligence behind the raid in Yemen.
A senior adviser stated publicly that "almost everything went wrong". Multiple deaths as well as the destruction of a $75 million dollar aircraft. Indeed, this was reported:
U.S. military officials told Reuters that Trump approved his first covert counter terrorism operation without sufficient intelligence, ground support, or adequate backup preparations. As a result, three officials said, the attacking SEAL team found itself dropping onto a reinforced Al Qaeda base defended by landmines, snipers, and a larger than expected contingent of heavily armed Islamist extremists.
Seems to me we have a problem. Lil' Donald's ego cannot accept failure, so we have people like Kelly Anne Conway going on Hard Ball trying to give us alternative facts. The fact is that this was a disaster with needless deaths. Now Lil' Donald has to move quickly on another terrorist target to prove himself in a well publicizing, highly successful way. To win that gambit, it will have to be stunning so we all forget about the 30 civilians and Navy Seal who gave their lives while Lil' Donald sat in luxury at dinner.
