Day 16, 01 Year: Trumpland: Constitutional Crisis

Let's be honest. Most of us in the baby boomer generation had, at the very least, some sort of state history class in 5th grade, a civics class in 7th grade, one or two years of history somewhere along the way, and that's it. 40 years later, we remember coyping down a lot of stuff from the black board, but little memory of anything else. A few of us took some sort world history in college. So we vaguely remember there are three branches of government that should provide a check and balance. But that's about it, right?

Time to remember the role of the judiciary branch who must keep the others in check. Here's where we are. Lil' Donald signed an executive order resulting in travel ban on people from seven countries.

He fired his acting Attorney General Sally Yates. It was her job to "check and balance" the executive branch. But her job is by appointment (and was temporary until he can get his pick which is Jeff Sessions appointed).

Let's look at her job. In the words of Wicki: "In the federal government of the United States, the Attorney General is a member of the Cabinet and, as head of the Department of Justice, is the top law enforcement officer and lawyer for the government."

OK, he can fire her. She's his employee and she defied him. She stated the order was indefensible and unconstitutional. Now District Judge James Robart, who was appointed to the bench in 2003 by former President George W Bush, late on Friday granted a request by Washington’s state attorney-general to stop implementation of the ban. Lil' Donald has vowed “at the earliest possible time” to have the US Department of Justice seek an emergency stay of the judge’s “outrageous order”. The statement added: “The president’s order is intended to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people.”

A number of these cases will make it to the Supreme Court, which has the newly added Justice Gorsuch. Lil' Donald is determined to have his way, and one has to wonder how that will affect his newest appointment. Certainly Lil' Donald does not understand the separation of powers. Moreover, his temper tantrums are becoming ridiculous as he takes to twitter.

When a country is no longer able to say who can, and who cannot , come in & out, especially for reasons of safety &.security - big trouble!
Interesting that certain Middle-Eastern countries agree with the ban. They know if certain people are allowed in it's death & destruction!

The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!

What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?

Because the ban was lifted by a judge, many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring into our country. A terrible decision

Many people in the news seem to think this is a ill considered executive order. We have to stop under estimated Lil' Donald. His party, his VP and even Lil' Donald himself has carefully planned and considered this craziness every step of the way. If Lil' Donald can win in the Supreme Court, he will own two of the three branches of government. And let's get real honest. Go read Malcome Nance's The Plot to Hack America. Mr Putin knew exactly what he was doing in this election, and didn't hesitate to use the Christian right to manipulate our election through fake news and other devices. Do you really believe that if he is in bed with Lil' Donald that Mr Putin doesn't own people in the Republican party like Mitchy-boy?
